Blue Green Tourmaline Necklace

These stones are blue/green indicolite tourmaline. The stone has been known since ancient times but the Dutch started to import it from Sri Lanka to Europe in the early 1700. These beads are hand-cut rectangular box-shaped and are about 2mm in diameter.  The necklace features antique, 14k white gold, bow-shaped links placed at symmetric intervals.  It is finished with an 18k white gold clasp.  it is 19 inches in length, is strung on silk, and hand-knotted between each bead.
